2024 LA MS and HS Band Camp information:
Band Camp is now July 29- August 2. It starts at 7:30am and ends at 2:00pm each day.
Things you need during band camp:
Sun Block/Screen, Socks, Sneakers/Athletic Shoes ONLY, Water Bottle. (You MUST hydrate regularly), Pencils with erasers (no pens), Instrument (if you use a school instrument, check-out will be on July 29-30) , Reeds (woodwind players only), Valve oil (brass players only), Mouthpiece, Deodorant.
As of July 1, 2021, each student who is participating in marching band must have a physical on file with their school prior to students participating in marching band.
All band camp days are mandatory. During band camp, we will learn the skills necessary to build a successful marching band for which our school and community will be proud.
In the event of rain or excessive temperatures, just like class, band camp meets regardless of most weather conditions. We have access to indoor facilities and will modify our schedule for safety and comfort if weather conditions so mandate.
You do not need to bring money.
Parents are welcome to attend all rehearsals during band camp. You are welcome to assist with water breaks, etc. All I ask is you bring no one under 18 unless they are in the band program. We have a parent volunteer organization that meets every month. Our first meeting of the new school year will be July 29 after band camp.

Public Notice: Intent to Apply
Little Axe Public Schools is applying for funding under the Oklahoma State Department of Education Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) Grant for Little Axe Elementary and High Schools. The Nita M. Lowey 21st Century 21st CCLC program is authorized under Title IV, Part B of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. The program provides federal funding for the establishment of community learning centers after school and summer programs that provide academic, artistic, and cultural enrichment opportunities for students who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools, in order to meet state and local standards in core academic subjects such as reading, math, and science. In addition, this program is intended to provide students with a broad array of hands-on STEM activities, leadership, and community service opportunities and to include families and the community in the education process.
The 21st Century grant will allow us to continue the goal of ensuring that all children receive an equal opportunity for success. The program provides homework help, literacy tutoring, hands-on STEM lessons and activities, clubs, community service projects, and a variety of recreational and special interest opportunities. After school staff collaborates with teachers to supplement lessons during the school day and to reinforce and enhance concepts learned through offering enrichment activities.
Our program is working with a coalition of community partners. If you are interested in being a community partner role in the program contact Emily Blakley, Federal Programs Director at
